Fire & Security Engineer

An independent NSI Gold and BAFE approved systems installer, are currently looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join their growing team

The successful candidate will provide reactive response, small works installations, basic commissioning and planned preventative maintenance services throughout London and across the UK.

Key Responsibilities & Functions of Role:

  • To service and maintain fire detection, access control, door entry, intruder alarm and IP/Analogue CCTV systems to the required standards and regulations.
  • To provide 24 hour call-out cover on a rota basis.
  • To assist in the installation of small works orders of appropriate systems to the required standards and regulations.
  • To ensure that all internal company documentation including time sheets, service report sheets etc. are completed and returned within the specified time scales.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate should be able to meet the following criteria, which are required for the role:

  • To have experience in the servicing and maintenance fire detection, access control, CCTV and Intruder alarm systems to the applicable British and European Standards and working knowledge of BAFE/NSI Codes of Practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant fire standards BS5839-1:2013, BAFE SP203-1
  • Knowledge of relevant Security standards
  • To have the ability to fault find and resolve issues in a logical manner.
  • To have good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and complete service / call out documentation.
  • To have the ability to form good working relationships with colleagues and customers alike.
  • To be able to work effectively as part of a team and also on own initiative.
  • To have the ability to understand system specifications and technical drawings.
  • To have good organisational and time management skills
  • To be computer literate


  • FIA Unit 1 – Fire Detection Design
  • FIA Unit 4 – Fire Alarm, Installation & Testing
  • FIA Unit 5 – Fire Alarm Maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Conventional and Analogue Addressable fire control panels manufactured by Advanced, Morley, Kentec, Gent* (* desirable but not essential)
  • CSCS Card
  • City & Guilds Electrical
  • Emergency Lighting ICEL BS5266 (desirable but not essential)
